About Geoff

Geoff was born in northern London shortly after the end of WWII. As a child, he developed a keen interest in ancient Roman history, culture and legends. During his teenage years a friend introduced him to the wonders of ancient Greek civilization as well. After leaving school Geoff worked at several jobs, including those of photographer and as an artist's agent, before earning his BA (Hons.) in Modern History.

Working in London for many years, his photographic inclination was toward portraiture. He knew and photographed many interesting and important people. Among them were the Eurythmics (before and during their very first performances as a group), the Royal painter Norman Douglas Hutchinson, flautist Tim Wheater, saxophonist Pat Crumly, artist Edward 'Teddy' Wolfe and raconteur Quentin Crisp. He also provided portfolio photos for drama school students and took pictures of interesting people on the streets.

He has continued to pursue his passion for photography into the digital age, expanding his repertoire to include landscapes and architectural detail, while also maintaining his extensive library of previously unpublished portrait negatives and prints dating from the 1970s to the 1990s.

Now living in central France, Geoff delights in seeking out 'undiscovered' alleyways, interesting faces, unusual landscapes and hidden treasures. He brings his own unique perspective to photographs of both the ordinary and the extraordinary people, buildings and scenery he encounters.
